CLS specializes in Cl and S removal. No two Cl treaters or sulfur guards are the same.
CLS absorbents are used in polishing bed and spike guard applications.
Polishing Beds
focusing mostly on removal of S and Cl species to equilibrium levels
Spike Guards
focusing on accommodating S and Cl spikes while protecting against other contaminants.
Chloride Removal
This application is around the reformer (CCR) in oil refineries. HCl, λ-RCl and β-RCl is taken out from H2 gas and reformate liquid. CLS produces zeolyte based absorbents that can remove all Cl species without forming green oils and RCl.
CLS can accurately predict cycle lengths given differing contaminant levels by kinetic modeling of Cl treaters. Accurate measurement of RCl in H2 gas can be performed via onsite Cl survey leading to accurate Cl balance around the CCR.
Sulfur Removal
This is applied to reformer feed and isomerization unit feed in oil refineries.
Absorbents are:
- Zeolytic base using base metals (Ni, Cu & Zn) additives for removing thiophenic sulfur, mercaptanic sulfur and H2S.
- Zeolytes - fixed cell, variable cell & exo type
- Aluminas – activated and different levels of promotion
- Mixed metal Oxides
